About Us
A specialised Sanctuary for Key Stage 1 pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Welcome to Ridge Hill School – a nurturing, neuro-accessible environment where every child is supported to feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
We follow the Sanctuary model and a Total Communication approach, combining high-quality teaching with positive behaviour support, personalised care, and a strong focus on emotional wellbeing. Our small, specialist setting helps KS1 pupils with ASD develop confidence, build relationships, and make meaningful progress both academically and personally.
Encouraging a child’s true potential in a loving and safe environment
At Ridge Hill School, every activity is thoughtfully designed to support our pupils’ emotional wellbeing, communication development, and learning in a calm, sensory-friendly environment.
Our Vision
At Ridge Hill School, our vision is to be an outstanding specialised sanctuary where every Key Stage 1 child with Autism Spectrum Disorder feels truly safe, valued, and empowered to achieve their full potential. We aspire to create a calm, neuro-accessible environment in which every child is supported to grow in confidence, develop meaningful communication, build positive relationships, and make excellent academic and personal progress — so that their dreams can grow bigger than the world around them.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a nurturing, highly personalised education for pupils with ASD through our Sanctuary model and Total Communication approach. We are committed to prioritising emotional wellbeing, sensory regulation, and positive behaviour support while delivering high-quality teaching tailored to each child’s individual needs. In close partnership with families, we help every child feel understood, develop independence, and build the foundations they need to thrive now and successfully transition to the next stage of their education.
